Marcy, Two categories, intentional and unintentional. Intentional: Might be a power line carrier (PLC) operation, transmitted over HV power lines and used to control switching. I kind of doubt this, as they typically do the signally by shifting frequency, and you'd probably hear that. Other than PLC, I can't think of anything that would be done intentionally in that frequency range with that sort of repetition. Unintentional: Some piece of electronics, probably nearby, is performing some action every 5 seconds, and a clocking or some other signal is leaking out via power lines or other wiring for you to hear.
