Hi Mike,
Thanks for posting this. I often hear carriers (+/- faint AM sometimes just discernible) here in NE Massachusetts that I had not known the IDs for, now I know some of them, including 162, 171, 189, 198, 252.
I used to hear 170 and 171 side by side but for the last few months 170 has "gone missing." Any idea what the carrier on 170 was? Also, I very clearly heard 252 Algeria French language male and female in conversation back on 2023-02-27, but usually just the carrier.
Sad these LW broadcasters (and NDBs) are going away. Odd to think this vast spectrum of low frequency RF is just being abandoned, almost returning to "RF wilderness" like the once-deforested landscape of New England (NE USA) where I live, has largely returned to mostly forested - much of it almost wilderness-like again (I am a hiker). I find myself wondering what, if anything, will be done with this LW spectrum emptiness once the LW broadcasters and NDBs are gone?
All the best and good LW DXing,
Bruce WA1HGJ
